Although New York based fashion and portrait photographer LISA HOULGRAVE has been involved in the glitz and glamour of fashion for over 25 years, she remains a country girl at heart.
Born and raised in Virginia, Lisa learned her craft over 15 years from many of the worlds leading photographers whilst working internationally as a successful fashion model. Building on the extensive knowledge she acquired during those years, Lisa’s elegant, dynamic portraits have graced not only the Rock ’n’ Roll hall of fame, the pages of Harpers Bazaar and Vogue Bambini, plus various private and public galleries, but also the campaigns of such designers as Vera Wang and Darby Scott.
Lisa’s heart really belongs to capturing the beauty of real life and the intimacy of portraiture, however. She’s always maintained that some of her life’s most important lessons were learned while on the back of a horse, so when the opportunity arose to shoot the magnificent Andalusian stallion NOVELISTO D (aka Athansor from the film ‘Winters Tale’) it was as if her passions had come full circle. She was able to ‘capture not just his natural beauty, but haunting images that speak of something much deeper and more soulful’.
Currently her photo of Novelisto is being used as the image piece for THE HORSE exhibit in the prestigious Museum of Natural History of UTAH.
